28 January 1946-March 5th 2020
Elaine Trevitt (nee Rose) died peacefully at home in Lancaster on 5 March 2020 from ovarian cancer. Elaine was born on the 28th of January 1946 in Southport, she met her husband Richard when she was 16, married when she was 20 and had two children Lucy and Clare. She found her calling later in life when she trained to be an osteopath at the British School of Osteopathy in London here she enjoyed the company and mutual support of mature students. She qualified in 1988 when she was aged 42, combining her training with bringing up her girls, which was quite an achievement. She initially worked from the family home in Acton before moving to Lancaster where she established a thriving practice.
Elaine was a passionate advocate of osteopathy, she spent time working as an osteopath in Lancaster Infirmary and she was curious and tenacious in her practice. She strove to continue working despite being frequently frustrated by insomnia and health issues, these health issues eventually forced her into early retirement, a fact that she greatly resented.
Elaine spent many happy hours in her garden, she was very creative and had a talent for the use of colour both inside and outside the home, she also enjoyed swimming and took courses on swimming ‘the Alexander way’ she also enjoyed singing.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Elaine is survived by her husband Richard, daughters Lucy and Clare and grandsons Jack and Harry.
