Convention 2017 at the Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa
March 11, 2017 - March 12, 2017
I can’t quite believe that it’s that time of the year again, where I sit with my laptop in front of the fire
and try to induce you all to book the next wonderful NCSO convention.
This year, we are returning to a previous venue Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa just outside Leeds, (1150, Century Way, Thorpe Park LS15 8ZB) on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th March. We were last there 2 years ago, and several of you will remember the lovely pool and gym which was made full use of, and the food was excellent! Although it isn’t in ‘the country’ it is near enough to Leeds for family members to take full advantage of accompanying their osteopathic partners and join us in the evening for the dinner.
We have booked a number of rooms at the same price as the last 8 years (this might be the last year we can hold this price, as hotel costs are spiraling upwards, so do take full advantage!) but, you will notice from your booking form that the price increases after Feb 21st to nearer what we should really be charging and remember you have to be a CURRENT MEMBER when you make your booking – that means you have to pay your bargain £10 subs before the end of January. I am doing the bookings this year, so there will be no confusion over who is and isn’t a member! All information and both forms (membership and convention) are also available on the NCSO website, but we would appreciate if you could provide payment on 2 separate cheques (contact me directly if you want to pay by BACS).
The Convention Programme is looking exciting with all new lecturers this year, Katie, John and I have tried to make it as interesting & varied as possible, with a slight break from tradition on Sunday morning, where we are handing over to a single lecturer, David Evans, who came highly recommended to us & will run his half day workshop on ‘the science of manipulation’. Don’t worry if you are one of our ‘more cranial nature’ members, I’m sure that it will be relevant for all of us and make us look at why we treat the way we do.
Maurice Cheng and Tim Walker will be with us on Saturday to give you a chance to ask/ discuss concerns about the profession, and are hoping to demonstrate the new technological support on both their websites to help navigate the CPD changes that will be brought in next year.
As we did last year, there will only be trade stands on Saturday, but our good friends Sissel & Online Ergonomics will be there & we hope to have representatives from Balens and Painless Practice so please do show your interest and support as their presence helps keep the price of the convention as low as possible for our members.
Remember the NCSO is your society and the aim is to make CPD not only affordable, but also enjoyable, it’s always great to catch up with old friends and to make new ones & I’d hate any of you to miss out on the fun (particularly on Saturday evening after the dinner!) and companionship.
It only leaves me to wish you and yours a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year and to look forward to seeing you all in March!
